Dr. Joyner has helped treat a variety of individuals ranging from weekend warriors, to college and professional athletes. While working in a variety of settings including physician offices, outpatient orthopedic practices, and local universities. During this time he continued his education and obtained additional certifications to specialize in treating athletes.

It is through these diversified experiences that he decided to open a practice where athletes and active individuals alike can rehabilitate, strengthen, and return to training in their respective sport, thus “bridging the gap” between rehab and athletic performance.

During his spare time, Dr. Joyner enjoys weight training, fitness, playing basketball, and spending time and travling with his wife and daughters.

Bio

Before joining Apex, Helen practiced as a physical therapist in Taiwan and later earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Loma Linda University in California.

Dr. Hsu is deeply committed to helping individuals restore function after injury and unlock their full potential in sports and daily activities. Early in her career, she gained valuable experience across diverse settings, treating a wide range of conditions—from sports injuries to post-operative rehabilitation and everyday sprains and strains.

Her professional journey has reinforced her dedication to educating patients on the critical importance of proper movement to prevent injury and enhance performance.

Dr. Hsu takes pride in working with athletes of all kinds, including swimmers, runners, gymnasts, and ballplayers. She employs a holistic approach to care, blending manual therapy, movement-based techniques, and neuromuscular re-education to deliver optimal outcomes and help her patients return stronger and more resilient.

Outside of work, Helen enjoys hiking, playing basketball, and traveling.

Dr. Patel recently relocated to the DMV area, bringing with her a wealth of experience across various clinical settings, including a strong background in Sports Medicine. She is passionate about providing expert orthopedic and musculoskeletal care, with a particular focus on Sports Rehabilitation, helping individuals return to the activities they love most.

With a background in Indian classical dance, Dr. Patel has a unique understanding of the demands placed on dancers and enjoys working with performers across a range of styles. She approaches each patient with a personalized, holistic plan, emphasizing the optimization of movement patterns and the use of advanced manual therapy techniques to help achieve functional goals. Dr. Patel is dedicated to learning from and challenging her patients, empowering them to reach their full potential.

When she is not working, Radhika enjoys spending time with her significant other and friends exploring the DMV area, working out, traveing, and reading.

Mina Seyed-Ali PT, DPT

Bio

Mina is a compassionate and skilled Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) who brings seven years of previous experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to Apex. She recently graduated from the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Arcadia University, where she honed her clinical skills and deepened her understanding of advanced rehabilitation techniques for athletes and pelvic floor patients.

Having personally navigated her own journey through injuries, Mina approaches each patient with empathy and a goal-focused mindset. She believes in creating a supportive environment where patients feel empowered to take an active role in their recovery. Mina’s own experiences with injury allow her to truly connect with her patients, understanding the physical and emotional challenges that come with rehabilitation.

When she’s not in the clinic, Mina enjoys staying active through tennis, volleyball, weight lifting, taking nature walks with her German Shepherd, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. She believes in living a balanced, healthy lifestyle and brings this philosophy into her patient care, encouraging others to prioritize their wellness both physically and mentally. Her motto is “Movement is Medicine!”

Bio

Maria is a former creator of Tez Fitness and a certified personal trainer with over 7 years of group fitness experience, I transitioned to the fitness industry after a decade in the medical field. she previously managed one of Maryland’s largest fitness boutique studios before dedicating herself to personal training and small group classes. 

Maria prioritizes safety, consistency, and longevity in every training program. Her approach combines energy, motivation, and a holistic wellness perspective, tailored to each clients unique needs and goals. She emphasizes building long-term habits through sustainable workouts, focusing on functional movements and injury prevention.

In 2024, Maria completed her first 10K Turkey Trot and the Bay Bridge 10k. For 2025, she aims to conquer her first 10 Miler and half Marathon, continuing to challenge herself while inspiring others to reach their goals.

When Maria am not training, she love traveling, running, hiking, photography, holistic cooking and tackling DIY projects. These hobbies fuel her creativity, resilience and appreciation for balanced living.
