Dr. Edwin Joyner, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, USAW, PES

Dr. Edwin Joyner is the founder and owner of Apex Performance Therapy. He obtained both his Bachelor of Science in Health Science, and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Howard University.

During his time as a clinician, he has helped treat a variety of individuals ranging from weekend warriors, to college and professional athletes. While working in a variety of settings including physician offices, out patient orthopedic practices, and local college/ universities.  It is during this time that he pursued and obtained various certifications to help better treat athletes.

Dr. Joyner is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES)and USA weightlifting coach (USAW-1) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and USA Weightlifting respectively. He has also taken courses in Trigger Point Dry Needling, Cup therapy, and various manual therapy courses.

It is through these diversified experiences that he decided to open a setting where athletes and active individuals alike can rehab and return to training or their respective sport, thus “bridging the gap” between rehab and athletic performance.

During his spare time, Dr. Joyner enjoys weight training, playing basketball, and spending time with his wife and daughters.

Dr. Helen Hsu, PT, DPT

Before Apex, Helen was a physical therapist in Taiwan and obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Loma Linda University in California.

 

Helen is passionate about helping people regain their function after injury and maximize their ability in playing sports. During her early career, she worked in various settings and treated individuals from sports injury, to orthopedic surgery and other day to day sprain and strain conditions. 

 

Through her experience, she wants to emphasize the importance of moving correctly to prevent injury.

Helen enjoys working with a variety of athletic populations, including swimmers, runners, gymnasts, and all ball players. She believes in a combination of manual treatments, movement-based therapies, and neuromuscular reeducation to achieve positive outcomes.

 

Outside of work, Helen enjoys hiking, playing basketball, and traveling.

Radhika Patel PT, DPT 

Radhika Patel, PT, DPT is a graduate from Saint Louis University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, recently moved to the DMV area. Throughout school, she had the opportunity to experience a variety of clinical settings and enjoyed working in Sports Medicine. She is pleased to be able to provide orthopedic, musculoskeletal care to patients in the North Bethesda area.

Radhika has a specific interest in Sports Rehab and is passionate about helping people return to doing the activities they love to do. She has a background in Indian classical dance and enjoys working with dancers of many different styles. She enjoys learning from and challenging all her patients, and believes in approaching each patient with an individualized holistic approach. Radhika believes in the importance of optimizing movement patterns and utilizing various manual techniques to help patients achieve their functional goals. 

When she is not working, Radhika enjoys spending time with her significant other and friends exploring the DMV area, working out, and reading. 

 

Angie Colindres- Office Administrator

Angie is currently a college student at PGCC pursuing a degree in psychology. She is the office administrator of Apex and is the glue that holds Apex together. In her free time she enjoys hiking, exploring new places, and trying new taco spots!

Anna Sophia Morris - Intern

Phia is a Senior at Northwestern High school in Germantown MD. She is the captain of the  lacrosse and swim team for  the Jaguars. She will be attending The University of Connecticut this fall studying Nursing. In her free time she enjoys weight training, spending time with friends and family and watching UCONN basketball. Go Huskies!
